A trip to an antique store yesterday yielded a few new trinkets, including an old wooden box used to store and ship cheese blocks. I love the old-world earthy feel of this box and was immediately inspired to design a floral arrangement in it. The colors needed to be dark to match the dark wood. The flowers in my garden that suited best were the red wine sweet william blooms and iresine foliage; the modern and chic seed heads of dill, millet, alliums and coneflowers; and a few sprigs of salvia for filler. It is worth noting that it took a surprisingly small handful of flowers to make this funky arrangement.
The delicious colors coupled with the culinary hints of the dill and the cheese box itself would make this arrangement perfect for a sumptuous summer feast or a restaurant’s front window.

I love it! That sweet william is to die for!
That’s a really lovely arrangement. Beautiful marriage of color & plants. Cheers! Alice
